Hydro Extrusions's Vetlanda plant makes aluminium profiles - aluminium alloys transformed into shapes, and is the first Tesla supplier in Sweden to down tools in support of the mechanics' strike. The carmaker told IF Metall on Nov. 6 it did not want to sign a collective agreement, the union said. "We want Tesla Sweden to sign a collective agreement... We want this conflict to be as brief and short as possible," IF Metall spokesperson Jesper Pettersson said. German unions have pressured the carmaker to implement a similar agreement for its 11,000 workers in Gruenheide, near Berlin.

More than a week after Tesla mechanics in Sweden began a strike to compel the U.S. automaker to accept a collective labor agreement, union officials said Tesla representatives would meet with the union on Monday. Tesla doesn’t make cars in Sweden, and the country is a relatively small market for the automaker. But the job action by dozens of mechanics is beginning to reverberate. Since the union called the strike on Oct. 27, dozens of the mechanics who are union members have been staying home, disrupting service appointments for some Tesla drivers. CNN —Nearly 3,000 people are dead, towns and villages are decimated and rescuers are trawling for survivors after a massive earthquake ripped through Morocco. The quake is the worst the country has suffered in decades and the full scale of its damage is yet to be understood. Friday’s disaster is the deadliest quake to hit Morocco in more than 60 years, according to EM-DAT, an international disaster database. In 1960, a 5.8 magnitude quake in Morocco with an epicenter in Adagir led to at least 12,000 deaths and 25,000 injuries. And in 1980, a 7.1 magnitude ground movement in Algeria followed by a tsunami caused more than 2,600 deaths and huge damage.
